The Outline of the Development Plan for Nursing in China (2005-2010) clearly states that the goals and tasks of the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing in China over the past five years are: to improve TCM nursing techniques, to highlight the characteristics and advantages of TCM nursing, and to focus on the role of TCM medical technology in nursing work. In accordance with the TCM nursing philosophy that prevention is more important than treatment and emphasizes health preservation, we should leverage the role of TCM nursing in the prevention and treatment of geriatric diseases, chronic diseases, and health recovery. We should emphasize the holistic view of TCM and personalized care, strengthen the organic integration of traditional Chinese and Western nursing techniques, and promote the sustainable development of TCM nursing. In today's context where people are pursuing a return to nature and health preservation in their care, TCM nursing stands out with its dynamic balance holistic health theory, rich variety of nursing methods, easy-to-understand and simple operation techniques, unified maintenance approach that integrates care into health preservation, The advantages of low-cost nursing cost-effectiveness ratio, as well as complementary and harmonious development with Western medical care, have great practical prospects and development space in the current and future medical development. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) dietary care, TCM nursing operations, and TCM rehabilitation health care are increasingly favored by people. Therefore, under the guidance of TCM basic theories and technical methods, it is of great significance to develop new TCM nursing technologies and promote their application in clinical practice. This project is characterized by highlighting the innovative application of TCM theories and technologies in nursing. Based on the excavation and organization of TCM technologies, it forms systematic research plans for dietary care, emotional care, rehabilitation health care, nursing technical operations, etc., to assist clinical treatment and create a distinctive service brand of TCM nursing. The content is as follows: 1. Dietary care: Conducts research on dietary care based on TCM's dialectical dietetics and the four natures and five flavors of food. Research on the use of dietary therapy to increase plasma albumin levels in patients with nephrotic edema; studies on using spleen-invigorating and blood-enriching dietary therapies for peritoneal dialysis patients to improve hemoglobin levels. 2. Expansion of the application of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) techniques in nursing: Guided by TCM meridian theory, ear acupressure was used to improve nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy in tumor patients, with an effective rate of 97.22%; ginger moxibustion was applied to improve sleep quality in lung cancer patients; topical treatment with plasters was used for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, achieving a significant efficacy rate of 86.60%. 3. Application of traditional Chinese medicine and herbs in nursing: Using the theory of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, traditional Chinese medicine was applied to solve nursing problems. For example, external application of mirabilite significantly reduced the symptoms in peritoneal dialysis patients with lower limb edema, with an effective rate of 91.3%; homemade mold-removing mouthwash and nourishing yin and transforming snow formula showed significant effects in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases. 4. Traditional Chinese Medicine Rehabilitation and Health Care Nursing: Guided by the traditional Chinese medicine concept of 'preventing illness before it occurs', the 'Shi's Twelve-Character Health Preservation Exercise' has been effectively used in the treatment and prevention of cervical spondylosis. For patients with chronic pelvic pain, pelvic exercises are implemented to alleviate their discomfort. The aforementioned research has resulted in the establishment of five standardized nursing operations for traditional Chinese medicine, over 10 academic papers published, six national continuing education classes on traditional Chinese medicine held, participation in five national and Shanghai interdisciplinary nursing academic exchanges, development of six specialist nurses, reception of 70 nursing trainees from other hospitals, currently with 1,000 dietary therapy prescriptions applied per year across the hospital, 6,000 new traditional Chinese medicine nursing techniques performed annually, and the Shi's Twelve-Character Health Preservation Exercise and pelvic exercises being played daily in the wards as routine care for patients to exercise. Technical support is provided to other hospitals in Shanghai for implementing traditional Chinese medicine nursing projects, such as Guanghua Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. Jiao District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and other institutions have successively carried out a variety of traditional Chinese medicine nursing techniques such as moxibustion therapy and herbal sitz bath.
